Welcome to Wilson Woodcrafts.
Discovering the mysteries of what wood grain will reveal is one of the great pleasures of woodworking. I hope you enjoy looking at some of the items created and available on this website.
Living and working in the Hawaiian islands for 4 decades afforded ample opportunity to collect and work with native Hawaiian woods as well as other non-native woods that grow there.
Retirement in Oregon has given me more time to devote to woodworking. Now, in addition to the Hawaiian woods, I am utilizing beautiful woods from North America as well as some imported species.
I started making jewelry boxes because I wanted a nice koa box and could not afford to buy a commercial one. I have continued to work with wood for the enjoyment of creating beautiful and unique pieces, especially when it affords an opportunity to reveal the 'figure' and characteristics of different species. During the past few years, I have created lamps, boxes, humidors, frames, urns. chests small and large, small tables as well as a few art objects for family and friends in addition to baby cradles for grandchildren.
I usually sell my creations at guild or craft fairs, but now am expanding my horizons. If you are interested in an item shown, or would like to inquire about commissioning a special piece, please feel free to use my email address to contact me.
Aloha
